As the title says... I have no confidence in her giving me eggs... she is my second snake.. kept her since end of 2007... Tried to breed her last year.. no egg.. try again end of the year.. no luck.... and then a friend got a snake and he wanted to know his snake sex... we got no probe... so I said why not put them together and let see....

So they mated on January 20th... so my friend snake is proven a male:santa:... I keep hoping... until 3 weeks ago no sign at all... until she refused feeding one week before shedding... she is a big eater... after shedding, she still refused feeding... so I thought, naaahhh.. she is fooling me again.... then this weird behaviour... moving around... and pulling newspaper bedding into her hide... lastly she didn't want to go into her hide...

I was a bit panicked... no spaghnum moss and no round container either... so tried to be creative and look around for what I can use... found a shoe box and wetted my mice bedding... than a few days later she went out of the egg nest... I said to myself... well no egg this time again... and I'm determined to feed her after work tonight... and voila... she is laying egg...

My only input would be in the future, wait til she is done before disturbing her. Stress during egg laying can cause egg binding...and that is bad for the snake AND the eggs.

Congratulations and good luck.

Thank you... I understand the stress of egg laying. But this is the 3rd time I saw snake egg... and this is my first snake that gave me eggs. She is my 2nd snake of four... (2 corns and 2 BP) So forgive me for being too excited... It is like being a father for the first time... (even though I was not there when my wife delivered of first daughter :santa:)....

Got one question though... I'm living in Malaysia (tropical weather)... here is the photo of my incubator... and to get 30C of temperature, we Malaysian snake hobbyist, put the incubator near the back of our refrigerator... however, I see temperature swing from day and night... most of the time I can get 29C... but late night and early morning I get 28C... Will temperature swing of 1C affect the egg???

I see 2~3 eggs dented today morning... is it a bad sign???:awcrap:

I don't know the conversion to °F right off the top of my head, but that shouldn't be a problem. I know above 85°F is the danger zone...so as long as you are below that you should be fine. If the eggs are denting, the vermiculite may not be moist enough. Try laying a damn paper towel over the eggs. The pic shows 88% humidity...which should be perfect....but it looks like the sensor might be buried...which could give you false results.

Finally... day 54.. pippers...

Checked the incubator today, not expecting anything, since today is the 54th day.. saw 1 tiny nose pipping out... as I'm typing this, more and more coming out...

What a sight.....

Congrats!!! Yes, it's an amel... I think I see another (blurred out) amel nose sticking out above the first one out. =)
