Yea, Jeff Corwin is another one, he has been on more now after Steve Irwins death. I don't think he works with as many reptiles though. Mark O'Shea is another one who works with mostly reptiles, I think. And, I don't know much about Austin.

No vote here, either......

Outside of not having Jeff Corwin, my personal favorite is missing.

That would be Maria Gara, Las Vegas' own "Snake Babe".

She made an appearance on the "Steely Dan Confessions" DVD, a send-up of HBO's "Taxicab Confessions", with her BP, "Scooby".

She's a babe. She has snakes. She's met Becker and Fagen. 'Nuff said. :grin01:

I just came up with three off of the top of my head. The basic thing I wanted to find out was if anybody was ignorant enough to like Austin Stevens....I hate that guy. :grin01:

To be honest my favorite herper, becuase I really enjoy studying the effects and medical benefits of snake venom, is Bill Haast. That guy is ridiculous....what it is, 170 bites now? :shrugs:

Totally biased against O'Shea, myself. I can't stand anything about him, his voice, his delivery, the way he acts around the animals.

Only reason I'd choose O'Shea over the other two is because he doesn't stage any catches. That's one thing his show is known for and sometimes they don't even find what it is they're looking for, where as Steve Irwin and Austin Stevens always use some stages catchs and that's not really herping. I could throw my corn snake on a bush and run up and act like I caught it, and you can tell when they do it becuase the camera men are already set up and in place and ready to make the shot.

Guess everyone has their own preferences because I like Austin Stevens. Irwin and Corwin are good too. However, Corwin can be a bit too "basic" at times. I loved Irwin for his passion and tenacity, but I think most people can admit that he could be a bit over the top at times. I don't know much about O'shea but something about him just rubs me the wrong way. That's just the way I see things :shrugs:

O'Shea is usually at the Tinley Park show.

That said, I've never met anyone more Caucasian. He's just a pair of pink eyes short of albinism.

He makes the Irish look downright tanned.

He reminds me of Catweazle

I voted to Irwin, but O'Shea is the only genuine herper. His shows, the few he has made, are not staged. They are legitimate herping events that sometimes produce the snake he's looking for, and sometimes not. That's apparently why he is not on the air anymore, because he refused to stage his shows and the outcomes of his searches were not guaranteed.

O'shea occassionally posts over at
http://www.venomousreptiles.org/

Here's a link one of his Q&A threads:

Like him or not, he's the consumate herpatologist, and miles of credentials.

Chad Brown

I voted for Steve Irwin. But my second choice would be Chad Brown, Not just because he's a Steeler! He also owns Pro Exotics!

BTW SkyChimp I've got a ton of pics comin tonight of the last...5 herp trips i think. The sad part is i found 5 more snakes that I didn't even get to photograph because I was definitly not in the zone and couldn't catch a thing :( Anyways...check over on the Natural Observation section tonight and I should have them posted.

LOL I'm lookin forward to it too KJ, too bad Graham isn't in town. We could always use an extra set of eyes. Hopefully this place will be pretty good and we can head out there again sometime after finals before I head home. I think he said he's getting in on the 7th and I'm leaving on the 12th so hopefully we can get a couple of herp trips by then. Weather is looking promising so far...
