Looking to find out what those of you with a tub rack set up like best... I'm looking at the herpstat II with a night drop. I also am building in lights that will be set on a timer... the tubs will be mostly enclosed on 3 sides then open on the front of course. Just curious as to what yall' out there use and like best. Thanks in advance everyone.

I only keep Colubrids, and have loved the standard Herpstat. Never felt like I needed a night drop.

That said, my heat lamps turn off at night, so there is a night drop on my tanks.

Helix with a night drop all the way. I'll only use Helix. I've used Herpstat, but it doesn't compare to Helix.

I won't have heat lamps, simply some LED lights mounted around 3 sides of the tubs so I can see in a little more easily. I have also been looking at the Helix, which Helix do you have? Also I am only keeping coulobrids as well. I currently have 2 corns and 3 kings (one rack full of snakes) but do have hopes of more later..... and soon.

I have the Herpstat ND (three of them) and I LOVE them!

To be honest, though, I've never used the night drop feature. LOL! At the time I bought them, I figured it was a handy feature to have just in case, though.

We have several snake racks with 32 quart locking lid tubs with Flexwatt backs on one side of the rack - we use a digital heat mat thermostat by Hydrofarm Horticultural Products (as suggested by another member) - it was inexpensive and works GREAT!!!

+1 to this I also use the Hydrofarm thermostat works great and only cost 30$

I use the hydrofarm as well. Seems to work well and it was easy to pick up on amazon for $30. Planning on picking up another one to setup my boas adult enclosures soon.

Like I said, I swear by Helix. We use them at work and I use them in my personal collection. I have, 5 now I guess. They are super user friendly and never break. Helix all the way.

We just bought a Hydrofarm for our boa (we have Zillas on our other tanks, but will likely change to Hydrofarm as well, because I love the bright, digital readout).

It's worked very well, and we have no complaints. And inexpensive, which is a huge plus :)

Herpstat ND. I don't use the ND, but that model has a lot of other nice features like high-low alarms and a replaceable fuse. In addition, the owner Dion is a member here, if we need him for questions. He's always been extremely helpful. I have about ten Herpstat NDs in use and have never had a problem.

Hmmmm, seem to be the prefer brand. I in need of getting one.
That for that note too Nanci!

Herpstats are really nice and I have used them. I much prefer the Helix, because of the ease of use. But if you're going to spend that amount of money on a thermostat (for a Helix or a Herpstat), you know that your animals are in good hands. Forgot to mention, another reason I like Helix is because I can work on one easily. If it breaks or whatever, I know how to replace fuses, probes, etc.

Ok next question........ how many tubs are you controling with one stat??? I'm planning on 5 with one. Will that work properly and if not what are my other options?

I just do each set of racks. I actually control my 50 slot breeder racks with 1 Helix. Now keep in mind that's 50 6qt tubs for Fat-Tail Geckos. As long as you don't overload your thermostat you'll be fine.
