Feed during shed? HELP!!

SHAKSNAKE

The crappy keeper!
i usually feed my corn every 7 days. he's about 5 months old and this morning i noticed his eyes went bluish so he's getting ready for shed. problem is, it's feeding day. should i feed him anyway? i heard this process can take up to a week so i don't know if it would be wise to not feed this young corn for 2 weeks.
enlighten me!

depends on the snake really, 2 of mine eat while they are in shed and 1 doesn't. so id give it a try to see what happens

my snake ate like it was her last meal. She just shed yesterday. I fed her twice before she finally shed. no problems

Even a new born snake can go over a month without food so, at 5 months, it'll be just fine for 2 weeks.
This is one of those things where you can decide for yourself :)

I think ALL of my corns eat while in shed! Once I offered Eddie a meal before noticing he was fully blue, and he was bumping around like a blind man to find the (f/t) mouse... and made a few unsuccessful strikes before finally chowing it down. :D So it doesn't hurt to try, and if he refuses, just wait until post-shed to offer again - shouldn't be a problem for a 5 month-old to skip a meal or two.

One of my snakes will eat with no problems and not regurge while in shed, the other I'm not sure cuz she hasn't shed for me yet, she regured and so is on the regurge protocol. But I know that some people have had snakes that will eat while in shed but end up regurging. Regurging is not a fun thing so if you are concerned about feeding while in shed then I wouldn't take the chance.

Like everyone has said, snakes can go a while without eating so if there is any doubt in your mind then I would wait for your snake to shed. Then you can feed the same day of the shed. Hope this helps you out.

Many snakes will eat fine while in shed. Some won't eat. Some will eat then they regurge. Given how dangerous regurging is and that snakes can miss a meal or two without danger, I'd err on the side of safety & not feed until after shedding. Just IMHO, YMMV.

i put the small fuzzy in there. he went for it and ate it then burrowed into the substrate! Seems like he's good to go. i'll post some pics after shed, thanks again.
