feeding a corn snake

I give our corn who gets two both of them at the same time. When he's done with one, he goes for the other. The first couple of times he thought he was done with the first one so would start to move off and I'd just grab the other one with the tongs and put it in front of him.

I offer the second one once the first has reached its stopping point in the snake.

But lately I've just been putting the kids in a deli cup with the two pinks while I go off to clean or whatnot. They'll eat the second one when they want to.

I tend to wait until after the snake has got it far enough down so that it is slithering about. Better too late than too early.

I used to just put both in the container with the snake at the same time, but that's because she was still too shy for me to watch her eat. Now after feeding her the first one, I wait until she's muscled it down into her stomach to give her the second one. (Plus, then the second one stays nice a hot while she eats the first.)
