Feeding before vacation question

Hi -

I saw the other related posts before going away on vacation.....but I have a more specific question:

Monday: We fed our 11 gram snake a 4 gram pinkie in the evening.
Tuesday: Left alone
Wednesday: Left alone, good-sized mouse bump still there in the evening.
Thursday (today): Still a bump this am. No poo in tank.
Friday: Had planned on a small pinkie or 1/2 of one
Saturday: leave alone
Sunday: Leave alone
Monday: clean tank, unplug heater, extra water, leave for 6 days.

I guess the bump could be a poo waiting to come out.....but it's very close to mid-snake, so my uneducated guess is that it's still digesting.

Thoughts on the Friday feed?

I'd go ahead and feed the snake on Friday. it is only a day early.

Or, if you do skip feeding, your snake will be OK. It is up to you.

Thanks....confounding this is that he's about to shed....his first with us. I think I may just skip since I hear that they tend to not eat sometimes when shedding.

I'm somewhat concerned that your snake still has a lump mid-body four days after feeding. If he's blue, that could be why. I don't think I would feed until the bump is gone and he has pooped.

Not four days.....that was about 2.5 days after. At three days exactly (last eve) the bump had shrunk and I saw a dark spot in his abdomen, guessing he's ready to go.

We had been feeding him every five days, so I'm thinking to go 12 days shouldn't be an issue at all.

How long after their colors dull to they typically shed? How long does shedding take?

Thanks!

The whole shedding process is 10-14 days, depending on the earliest day you detect the snake is blue. With a baby, you can expect him to shed about every 30 days.

Thanks, Nanci. Any special concerns when being away while they shed, aside from the lots of extra water? Humidity is pretty high around here these days.....
