Should i feed if my snow is in blue or wait till after the shed? Also about how long does it take for a corn to shed once its in blue? Does it just shed or do they rub agaist rocks and such? thanks,
They generally rub against objects to help the skin off.
It will not hurt your corn snake if you wait until he's out of blue; snakes are designed to go without food for long periods of time, so a few extra days of fasting will not be bad for him. It's a good idea to leave your snake alone as much as poosible during his shedding process, as when they are in blue they are virtually blind.
Once they start shedding it's usually done within a night (from what I've seen with my snow). They are in blue for a couple days before they shed, though, so the whole process is normally half a week or less.
EDIT: I'm not completely sure about the blue period. Apparently it can last for up to a week? But once the snake starts shedding, it is usually done overnight.
chedding cycles are different for each individual snake.
However generally the whole process takes roughly 10 days...
Early signs of shed are clouding of the belly, thus developing into clouded or blue eyes.
Once they have cleared up from this stage, they will usually shed 3-4 days afterwards, however i have had one of my snakes shed just 2 days after clearing up.
The actual shedding process is fairly quick, however not often witnessed
And its best not to disturb the animal when i shed. Leave it alone for the full shed cycle.
As for feeding, i have monster corns who will eat whatever whenever, and have had full digestion cycles during shed cycles too...
