Feeding issues

Hi!
I'm a new snake owner & I'm having some issues with feeding. I purchased Peanut last Saturday and was told that she was due to eat on Sunday. When I woke up that morning, I moved her to her feeding tank and dangled a frozen pinkie in front of her. She struck at it once but then did nothing with it. I tried to feed her once again the next night and she didn't even think about going towards it. I called the Petsmart I purchased her from and talked to the man who had assisted me. He said that Peanut had been eating regularly every 4 to 5 days and had only missed a feeding once. It was suggested to me that I try to feed her a live pinkie. So later that day I went to a local pet store and did so. I have left her in the feeding dish for 2 days straight with the live pinkie and have had no response. I know its still early and could be stress related, but I am starting to get worried about her. Any ideas?

Ohh, I had this problem with my first corn snake, which I bought from Petco. (Not the same as Petsmart, but maybe the idea would work anyways.) I tried everything to get the snake to eat, but it ignored the mouse. It turned out that Petco was feeding the snake in a Petco cardboard box. As soon as I put the snake in that specific box that it was used to eating in, the snake ate without problems. Perhaps Petsmart is using a specific method and the snake will only eat under those circumstances?

Of course, as this was my first cornsnake, I had the temperature and humidity all wrong (dont use ceramic heaters) and the snake regurgitated the meal, an incedent which eventually led to the animals untimely death. Make sure the heat is right, that might be another reason.

Well I finally got Peanut to eat today. Now I'm just worried about regurgitation :( How fast does that normally happen? Oh jeez having a snake stresses me out! What is the ideal temp for the tank? Mine is at about 84 on the hot side and 76 on the cool. But of course Peanut is not in the normal tank during eatings, so I'm not too sure on the temp in his feeding dish?!

calm down, my lilith did not eat for a month after i bought her from a petco. She was eating regularly up until i bought her. after she took the first one she became a regular eater and she just bot up to 16 grams and i'm nervous ( i just tried double pinks and one of them looked abit larger than i thought) she ate it but i'm a bit worried about regurge but relax some snakes are skiddish when you just get them. New surroundings, new handlers, new cages and feeding style all stress them a bit but you your Peanut should be fine. Have you Checked out Kathy Loves book (i hear its wonderfull)

Have a great night

Brittneyhopper, your tank temps sound perfectly fine and it doesn't matter too much about the temp of the feeding container, room temp should be fine :) Well as long as you don't live in Siberia without heating, or the Sahara without AC ;)

Once she's finished eating just let her crawl back into her home and she will find the best place/temperature for her to digest. Just remember not to handle her for 48 to 72 hours following a feed, so she can digest in peace :)

Thanks guys! I did scoot her out of her feeding dish into her tank & she's been in her favorite sleeping spot for the day and seems very happy. She even swam a little yesterday :) I hope to find out her actual sex soon. How old do they have to be to find out? I really wanna mate!
