feeding problem

I am having trouble with my young Albino not eating is that some thing I should be worried about? It has been three weeks how long should I wait before going to a vet?

have you tried feeding it just a pinkys head, the smaller meal might be more appealing. Also leave the mouse in with him in a feeding container over night. good luck let us know how you get on.

was your corn snake feeding on f/t before you got him. You could try taking tongs and wiggling it in front of him, that might trigger him to eat.

He ate for the first month and a half I have had him(not sure he is a he) but just 3 weeks ago stopped eating. I feed live pinks, he is only about 18'' to 20'' long. I feed in a seperate inclosure from his home once a week.

Three weeks in not an alarming amount of time. So at this point don't get too upset. He could go off his feed for three weeks for a number of reasons. Stress would be a real big factor in his feeding. Shedding would also. New environment or something new in his environment. The reason for feeding in a separate container is to prevent the ingestion of substrate. Try this, he probably has a place in his cage where he likes to hang out, put the prey item on a paper plate or a piece of paper right outside his normal hang out. Then leave him alone over night. Ten bucks says he’ll eat.

Do you have any idea how heavy he is in grams? 18 to 20” seems like a big snake to be feeding pinkies to. The prey item should be 1 ½ times the diameter of the snake.

Two pinkies at a time is better than more often. If you have pinkies on hand try that. You may want to try to make a transition to frozen thawed before long. Live pinkies or fuzzies are not always available.

I would wait a few days. If you offer daily to a refusing animal you could increase your problems.

I'd be more concerned that a second went off feed unless it's a male with breed fever. Are they together? What's your temperature settings? Do they have hides on both sides? Etc......

I do not know if they are male or female the are still young I do know anyone to take them to to find out. I thought that they were both females. They are seperate temps in both tanks range from 85 warm side to 70 in the cool side, have hide warm side and near middle in the.

Just an update the blood ate to day but only one pinky would not eat the second. The albino still will not eat going on 4 1/2 weeks how long can they go like this?

I would offer food every 4 or 5 days, if he is a male, 3 1/2 weeks ok. I've had males go 3 months without eating during breeding season.

Where in Ohio are you? I might know someone to recommend you see to probe him/her.

I am 18 miles north of Dayton. Thank you for your help any information would be helpful. I have only had this albino for 3 months, ate fine for the first 2 then just stopped one day.
