feeding question

I know 99% of everyone keeps their snakes on a feeding schedule a set number of days apart, and I do my best to do this as well. I've always wondered though; where corns/snakes in general can/do go several weeks or more in the wild without eating, would it be harmful if I varied the times when I fed my snake? like for instance, if I fed her 4 days from her last feeding, then didn't feed her for 10 or 11 days, and then fed her 6 days from that feeding, what that be harmful to her? I was thinking about it in a sense of it being a more "natural" feeding situation like in the wild. I haven't done this, I feed my corn every 5-7 days depending on the size of her last meal. It was just something I was wondering.

It's not harmful per say, but it's frowned upon, especially for baby/young snakes. They need fuel to grow and thrive. Not feeding babies on a good schedule can cause issues.

There is no way to word this that does not sound harsh, roll with me and know that is not my intent.

If you look at it like this, keeping snakes captive in aquariums is not natural, but we do it. They are our pets, it's better to enrich their lives by changing up the tank decorations, or adding new things to explore, than messing with food. Also long the same principle of would you with hold kibble from a dog to make him hunt it? Nope, you want your pet well fed, healthy and happy.

I change up the plants or things in my vivs to give the snakes new things to explore. Also handling them and hanging out with them adds variety. Messing with food can cause growth issues and health issues in young snakes. If you stretch a feeding because of being out of town that's one thing, but a regular irregular schedule can spell trouble for growing little ones.

My feeding days tend to be quite movable and never noticed any harm occurring. Although I'm not sure whether it's more natural. The whole setup is necessarily unnatural. As long as they get the same amount of food averaged over a couple of months, as they would with a strictly regular feeding routine, then I don't see it as a problem.

The way I see it, I'm the one with the diary, not them!
