Feeding Question

My daughter just got a new corn snake.....she adores him/her!!!

We fed her for the first time last night.....he/she did fine....my question is how long should you leave the snake alone to digest? She wants to pick him/her up, but I suggested that we leave him alone for a little while. What are your suggestions.

Thanks!!!

The general consensus is 48 hours so that the snakes don't regurgitate. That causes a whole host of new problems.

I generally wait until mine have pooped to avoid any "accidents" which are pretty messy. That equates to about 52 hours for my snakes. :)

Oh yeah, and I meant to say welcome to the forums!

You've come to the right place to have questions answered. There is a lot to be learned around here, I hope you enjoy your stay.:)

Congrats on your new addition!

That was what I had suggested to her....but having a second helps.....

Thanks for the quick response!!!!

I agree with KatieL. I made the mistake once of being overeager to play with my first corn snake and got ummm ... pooped on, it stinks !! (pun intended).

Welcome btw :)

Welcome to the forums! :) Be careful...it can become an addiction. :D Hope to see pics of the little guy (and the little girl too!)

Welcome! I agree - 48 hours is a good guideline. I hope your daughter (and you) have lots of fun with your new family member :)
