feeding question

I just got my first corn about 1 week ago. He is a baby maybe 8 inches long at most. I fed him the smallest pink about 5 days ago and there is still a tiny lump in his stomach. Should i go ahead and feed him another or wait a few more days??
Thanks :)

What cage are you keeping him in and what are his temps? there is normally only a lump after a few days, not five....i would wait i guess, If his set up is OK i guess i would just wait for it to go away or for a regurg, i am not an expert tho so do not just depend on my post.

I would also agree.

the max temp of the sub. is about 88-90 and the ambient is about 83, humidity is about 40% and he has a hide and bole of water

88-90 on the warm side is a little overkill IMO. You might want to check out the FAQ for this forum. How are you measuring your temperatures? I'm betting with a UTH and heat light you're not getting a true reading on the hot side. It's not as much about ambient as it is belly heat and the surface temperature of the substrate. I saw you only mentioned one hide as well. You probably want to provide more hides for your snake too - it will help him to feel more secure and also give him a chance for a varied temperature.

I deffinately agree to pull them temperatures down. I like to keep the cool side in the mid 70's during the day and the warm between 82-86.

Also have you noticed that the corn has poo'ed yet? That may be why there is still a bump?

yeah the corn has poo'ed, im not sure about the substrate temp on the other side of the tank because the digital temp gauge i bought only has one probe. The substrate is usually 85 degrees but i turn on the light so i can see it at night and that raises the temp, ill have to get a flourecent light or black light.

Could you possibly post a pic pf your vivarium for us?

Corns are regarded as nocturnal, please stop turning the lamp on after dark!

sorry to but in on someone elses post but can that really confuse the snake because i have my corn in my room and when i go to bed i switch the light on in my room? I dont always switch the light of in the tank at a certain time is it better to keep to a routine of a certain time on and off?

I personally keep a routine, but I'm a routine orientated person. I just switch it off when I get home from work, and on when I get up in the morning.

Wow My snake must be spoiled then. He has his own room with a timed light. And at night I went out to by a Night Glo light. Just to check on him before I go to bed. Then its not so bright and Confuse him as to what time it is. I'm still trying to smarten up my B/f he has a habit of taking him out after our snakes light has gone out. He'll take him out at like 1 in the morning (before he changed his sleeping schedule) and have him out for a bit. Our snake is on a 10 AM- 10 PM, and taking him out at 1 in the morning was making him cranky. So I grounded my b/f from the snake. lol

I turn the light on at night because he is in a room where there is no day light, so i would like to see him sometime and seeing as how im gone all day.....

Actually they are nocturnal so I think they would perfer to be handled at night and during the day you are waking them up. :)
Although they are generally more active in the evening hours, they are not really nocturnal. They are classified as diurnal.

I leave a blacklite on at all times. Do you think that is messing with his sleep cycle?

I only did a five minute search but found a statement saying corns are diurnal but in the spring they are nocturnal. I could understand the latter being mating season but have alway observed my snake being active at night. I have to do more research on this.
