Hello, I was wondering about how to feed my little guy.
The pet store said one pinky a week,but that dosent seem right
I read that if the meal is 1.5 the widest part of my snake then it will be ok.Pinkies are way small they are smaller then the widest part of my snake.should I try a small fuzzy? I feed him two pinkies today to see how it worked out he took them both down no problem.any guidence would be great.I'm so afraid that I'm not doing the right thing.maybe its because I once owned fish,I did everything by the book for them too but they still croaked one after another.I'm just nervous.thanks for reading and I hope to hear from someone soon

It depends on what your goal is...

If you want to grow the snake faster, one a week isn't enough. One option would be to do exactly what you did today and/or increase the number of pinkies. Another option would be to feed twice a week (every 3-5 days). If growth is your goal, increasing the size and frequency of feeding is necessary. If your snake is able to keep down two pinkies at each feeding for a couple of weeks, try move up to one small fuzzy. Just make sure you check for regurges or other problems

Remember that each snake is different and that is part of what make them interesting to work with.

If your corns can eat two pinks at once and there is no bulge in the belly after two days, I would feed her a fuzzy....Of course this is just my thoughts...
 
Thanks for the advice.I dont want to over feed him I just want to maintain good health.I thought about feeding him every 4 days one small pinky but if I do that I would only have one day to hold him.I have been feeding him every six days.letting him rest for three days that still leaves me three days to hold him and let him get aclimated to me.thanks again for the advice.

If your snake ate the two pinkies with no problem, and everything goes normally, I would try feeding a small fuzzy next time. You don't have to feed exactly once per week. I feed hatchlings every 5 days, and some people even feed every 4 days. (Like you, I don't like to do this because that doesn't give you much time to handle your snake.)
