Feeding - So is this too big?

I fed Strangles his first fuzzy yesterday. Frankly, I am shocked he was able to swallow this. I watched him for the first 5 minutes and got bored because he didnt seem to be making progress. I was assuming I had just wasted a mouse. But 15 munites later it was gone and all I saw was this:

Did I go too far? This is what I always thought snakes SHOULD look like after feeding. But I am wondering if maybe it was too big.

Looks like approximately 1 1/2 times his size, doesn't it? If it's two times his size, you can go to a smaller meal. Did you use the Munson plan as a guideline?

I did originally, but he always seemed hungry. Also, that plan doesnt specify the weight of the pinks. I found out on here that 2-3 grams is what most people consider to be normal pinks...the ones I can get locally are only about a gram each.

He was on 2 pinks the last two feedings with no problem at all. I havnt weighed these fuzzies yet. They seem approximately the same size/weight as two pinks.

I made this chart based on the Munson plan, and collected the weight data from 5 Rodent Vendors. Hope it helps :)

Looks fine to me.

Beware interpreting behaviour as "seeming to be hungry". Corns can go into hunting mode for a period immediately after swallowing and can start to patrol their tank again soon after digesting.

Looking for food, doesn't mean that they actually need it. It's just an instinct that isn't appropriate in captivity, where another meal will be supplied automatically.

I have been really careful about maintaining a feeding schedule. He never gets fed more often than once in five days.

Someone said he looked kinda thin. So I thought he was being underfed.

They're usually skinny minnies until they can handle small mice. That's when I start to see mine fill out.

That looks good to me. They are kinda slow with their first meal of a bigger size. I betcha he has a much easier go of it next time.

He isn't skinny. He is fine. Some of my snakes go into a total feeding frenzy after eating. Just because a snake WANTS to eat doesn't mean it should eat.
