Feeding too much?

ok... I have a 0.1 Anery A which is about 6 months old now. She's always fed pretty well, but that's where I'm a little concerned. A girl at work who knows snakes a lot says that I'm probably feeding her too much.

I was at the stage where I was feeding her 3 pinkies every 5-6 days.... and she ate them all... Then she ate 5 the next week... I only put them in because I had gotten to the end of my supply and she kept taking them.

Anyway... I moved up to fuzzies about 1.5 months ago or so... and I was afraid that she wouldn't be able to take them, but she was able to manage them pretty well and it doesn't even make her bulge very much.

I didn't feed her for 8 days ('cos I couldn't get to the shop to buy any), but last night she's taken 3 fuzzies.. I know she will take 3 the next time she feeds if I offer (5-6 days), so it just sounds a little too much.

Should I get bigger fuzzies? They already look too big for her head (but ok for her body size)..... Should I feed her one fuzzy every 3-4 days, or should I continue as I'm doing?

I don't know how big the next size up is (hopper?), but I'm guessing that's gonna be far too big for her.

She's about 2 foot long... maybe a little longer. Her body at it's fattest is about the width of a Tippex bottle (see pic), and her head is about the size of a BIC pen (see pic)

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Here's a member's suggested feeding chart that works well (Thanks Dean)

Pink 2-3g every 4-5 days 4-15g snake
2 Pinks 3gx2 4-5 days 16-23g snake
Small Fuzzy 5-7g 5-6 days 24-30g snake
Fuzzy 7-9g 5-6 days 30-50g snake
Hopper 9-12g 5-6 days 51-90g snake
Weaned mouse 14-20g 7 days 91-179g snake
Adult mouse 24-30g 7 days 170+g snake

Generally a single prey item around 1 1/2 times the snake's diameter is the way to go

Ok, so what's the best way to weigh a snake? I don't have any tools to tell my how heavy my snake is.

My phone is 115gr and she seems to be almost the same weight as that... so the above doesn't seem right. I'll ask the pet shop to show me Hoppers and Weaned Mice at the weekend... Then I'll know the sizes.

Aha, you go to Woolworth's or similar, and get a set of scales like these that Buck and Butch are modelling! I weigh all my snakes on the firast feeding day of each month, so I can track their growth. (I'm sure I'll be a tad less obsessive when they're adults)

A digital postal scale or kitchen scale that weighs in grams would do the trick. Get one with a tare function and weigh her in a plastic tub.

Ok thanks... I'll use the kitchen scales and I'll put her in a plastic tub...

She looks about as big as your second photo (is that your Anery?)... i assume the 47 means 47 grams.... Which means my phone weight guess is completely wrong.

Very nice! If you get the photos within the right parameters (I use paint to re-size using 'stretch and skew') you can post them directly on here using the 'manage attachments' button

By monday I should have some new pics up. I'll resize them in Adobe Photoshop and post here.

Thanks a lot :)
