Female Care

So it looks to be my snake is a female. The reading I did on different sites didn't offer any specifics about females, and I haven't seen much here outside of a couple points. The thing is, I haven't seen what these words mean unfortunately. Can you guys tell me what gravid and brumation/brumate is/are. As well, does this mean that in the future when she's older that she'll lay clutches of just slugs since I have no plans to breed. Advice would be appreciated and welcome, thank you.

I found the term gravid. I missed it in the terms sticky. So then it's possible for her to lay unfertilized clutches?

Possible but rare. I personally never had a female lay a clutch of "slugs" (unfertilized eggs) without being bred and I have quite a few adult females that I am not breeding every year since I don't like to produce too many babies in any one year. I usually select 3 or 4 females and give the rest a year off. IMO this is better for them that producing a clutch every year also.
When I am planning to breed a female I like to bulk her up a bit with extra meals and condition her with lots of handling/ exercise so she will be in good shape for egg laying.
Brumation is a sort of hibernation/ dormant cool period, if you are not planning to breed you won't need to brumate either.

Thank you. In the rare event that she does produce eggs, what are some signs that she's going to lay? I've seen pictures here that show a larger area near the tail when there are eggs present.
