Final Serpenco Purchase Arrived

Susan

Go Ahead, Make My Day!
I'm very glad to have them, but sorry that these will be my last purchase of any kind from Rich.

First is an '06 Sunkissed poss het hypo female. She weighs in at 236 grams (Rich's e-mail said his '07s were too small to breed next year and the '06s were "iffy"), although she looks and feels larger than that. It was a quick stop on the scale so I'll need to double check her in a few days after she settles in. I should be able to have her up to breedable size by the time I put everyone down for brumation. At least I sure hope so as I got her to expand my possibilities for 2010, freeing up another female to breed with a different morph!

Next is an '07 opal (? amber) female - which is exactly how Rich had her labeled. She tipped the scale at 90 grams (double checked) so she won't be ready until 2011. My older opal female has done nothing except give me a few slugs in 3 years of breeding attempts, so this is her replacement, as well as giving me some potential interesting clutches to test out her genetics.

Last is something I just couldn't pass up...an '07 Sunkissed lavender male. He weighed in at 96 grams, but that is fine to be able to breed next year, especially since I have some time to get him a little larger! And with his apparent appetite (see next post below), that shouldn't be hard to do!

Since the package was delivered to my workplace, I had him out to show everyone. He was an absolute perfect angel and as sweet as can be. Once I got him home, I took him out again for a quick photo session...no problem, but when I started walking back inside, he started to calmly try to make a meal out of me. He made multiple attempts at various locations on my hand and I managed to snap a few shots of the last two.

Those are of course all incredible, but that Sunkissed Lavender is the perfect looking snake. Looks hungry too, so I'm sure getting him to grow to breeding size should be easy :)!

That SK Lavender looks amazing. Also further proof that we are lucky they aren't the largest snake species. They'd rule the world!

I hope that sunkissed lav doesn't turn out to be a picky eater!!! So adorable! Opal _might_ be my favorite, or Hunger Snake might be. Can't decide!!

LOL Gotta love the fiesty ones. He looks gentle about it though in a strange love bite kinda way:)

There really was nothing aggressive or "Sunkissed" about the bites. They were calm and about as gentle as a bite can be...barely made a mark, and that was on that last one. And the more I think about it, I might want to change soap or something as the only other things I handled today were the other snakes, and that was briefly, and he acted as if I was an already dead meal that just needed to be swallowed. Maybe there is more than just washing the scent off a pinky mouse when they say to use Ivory on a problem hatchling!
