Finally a new snake!

Well as some of you may know, today was the Spartanburg Reptile show. I was mainly going to get 2 baby racks from Jeff Mohr and browse around. After a little while a saw a beautiful female (RO?) and was going to ask some questions about her.

:-offtopic But before I could ask any questions I went over to watch a presentation by Jeff. It was great, he had a lot of good information and animals to share with us. My mom said to me "Man I like that guy, he said some great stuff". Just to let you know Jeff. :)

Then I asked about the snake. The man said she was an okeetee but I new she wasn't a plain okeetee. He also said she would be a good breeder. She was 125 dollars but I got her for 105. Here are some picks of her. RO?

Thanks for looking.

Oh wow she is stunning. I can see she is tangling herself up in some of the pics. I think she's an RO or an amel, either or she is beautiful.

She is beautiful. I'm glad you got to go. We didn't. We're going to try to make the Charlotte one.

Absolutly stunning.

Beautiful pick-up Dave.

Her back half is an R.O. anyway. :grin01: But seriously, she's on the border of what can reasonably be called an R.O.. I'd call her an amel, but the choice is yours. :)

She's really pretty Dave! Does she have a name yet? Considering the location that this snake comes from, isn't conceiveable that she is an Okeetee, no matter how great her markings are? It's a locality, right, that typically expresses itself with the wide borders- but what defines Okeetee- the locality (traceable back to where the originals were collected) or the pattern?

Nanci

Nanci, I think it's both to a degree. But I consider a top quality okeetee as a vibrantly coloured, thick black borded locailty animal that can be traced back to original line. Then again I have seen some poorly coloured animals that are indeed okeetee in locality and vice versa.

Great new addition Dave... you planning on breeding her this season?!

Thanks everyone! Not sure what I'll call her, but I really thought she had too much white to just be an amel. Well I am going to try to breed her to my male amel het butter so I don't think that will help in seeing if she is really a RO. I could either breed her to my male normal or my male amel het butter but Jeff told me I would get all normals if I bred her with the normal. So I think Ill stick with the amel het butter.

Yes she does now have a name. On the way home my sister (12) said that her name should be Sarah. So I guess Sarah the snake it is.

Thanks again.

Dave-
An RO IS an amel, just line bred to have the thick white borders.

As for your snake, I'd rather call her a zig-zag amel than an RO, but that's just my opinion. I think the borders for an RO would be thicker, but yours appears to be trying REEEAAAALLLLY hard to be RO :)...it's close.
