Well its been a few weeks since i started my project and today i just finished moving it in. I probably have $150 invested, and the hour count got thrown out the window after 20 :).

started out with various lengths of hardwood, figured and cut them into 6", 12", and 18" pieces. Jigged them up on the table, glued and clamped them overnight.

welded 1.5" X 1.5" 1/8 angle into top and bottom frames, later to weld the corner pieces in. Lots of grinding/filing.

Painted the frame and cut all of the wood to presure fit upon assembly. i left quite a few steps out as i was unable to keep the camera throughout the entire process but you get the rough idea :).

Some pictures of assembly and finished stand.

I never could have found anything that i liked for my price range, so i decided to go for it and design and build my own piece. This is my first attempt at welding, and the first time i dealt with hardwood flooring as well so im happy with the finished product. Now what else can i build.....:smash:

Im not sure what im doing in the bottom tank yet. Its not very big but i think i could house a small lizard in there. Its 20"x10"x10". Currently im not "allowed" to have another snake, seeing as i havent convinced my lovely girlfriend that another one is crucial to my survival. But i have almost convinced her that we could get a lizard :). Any suggestions to what would be suiatable for that tank size?

Thanks everyone! I was thinking a gecko of sorts. I have read into them a little bit and im not sure if i can find everything i need for one around here. Im doing my research tonight!
