Finally, one from MY neck of the woods....

See, this is why we should know our neighbors. But then again, it might be creepy like the neighbors on Edward Scissorhands. It's so hard for me to understand how people couldn't know their neighbors have 100s of animals. Just like the neighbors who "never knew" that their neighbors were running dog fighting rounds in their backyard.

Poor reptiles!

I'm pretty sure he had permits for everything he kept. There's more to the story and it's sad how this all transpired. That article doesn't say anything about the two mastiffs they murdered or that the man (Terry Cullen) who actually owns the animals helps with many rescues and does work for the endangered Chinese alligator.

As far as I know, there were no arrests and the entire thing transpired when the police were investigating a domestic violence report at the house. Really sad.

If you use to google his name, you'd find his you tube videos, ReptilesTV references and other good things Terry has done. Now you just see this BS.

Maybe it was something in the curds??

:sidestep:

HEY NOW! What exactly are you trying to say?!! :eatpointe

Anyway-
Wow, I don't even know what to say, except, triple yikes (and that's as high as the yikes' go in my book).

Oh, and this face: :nope:
It always makes me really sad to see Crocks and Gators (and even Anacondas) at expos, because I always wonder who's actually buying them..

Teenagers, mostly.

We've got about 80 and other than the dogs, cats and freakin' loud parrot who can't shut his bill, I doubt seriously they know about any of them. I don't go around blabbing to the neighbors about our herps because I don't want any trouble from them.

I hope there is more to the story... but the police killing two mastiffs is very sad, if it's true. That crap happens here all the damn time and it makes me really angry. Someone comes bursting into your house (search warrant or no) and then shoots your dog when it defends the house? Here in Baltimore, one guy lost his dog because it stood up on the bed where he and his wife were sleeping and barked at the cops who were serving a search warrant that later proved to be the WRONG ADDRESS. Sickening.

I'm telling you, there IS more to the story. Google Terry Cullen and weed out these articles about him and look at the good he's done. There are 18 different articles about this same story that happened a few days ago. Some reference his name and some don't.

I checked out his name and he is well respected. That does not mean he did not get in over his head or not have enough money or time to keep the animals in the way they should be kept.

It will be very sad if they took all those animals and he did indeed have a permit.

The media is all powerful

It is scary just how quickly the media and / or the government can destroy your reputation. I always think of the poor security guard at the Atlanta Olympics. Luckily, in his case he did receive some monetary compensation, but most victims of the media / government don't.
