finding local herp vets

I was just curious, is there a resource that can be used to locate good local herp vets? I found a list of recommended herp vets in my area, however it seemed to be a few years old. Now that I have read some of the scary posts about people having sick or injured corn snakes I thought that some more experienced owners may have some insight into this (I apologize if there is a more appropriate forum for this, I put it here because I thought of it as somewhat "health issue" related).

The list of herp vets in my area was indeed a bit old, but it wasn't too hard to find the updated contact information. I called the clinic and they told me he had moved, then gave me the new number. It was pretty easy. Unfortunately he turned out to be on vacation so I had to call around to find someone else who was available. It didn't take long, though. I suppose I was lucky.

This is a very good resource. I checked, and the last time it was updated was April of '07, so it should still be up to date. I see that you're from Mass., so i'll link you to that page here. Here's the list of all the herp vets. Click Here!
It's also got asterisks for those vets that have been recommended by herp keepers. Hopefully this helps! :)

Wow thanks that is perfect. The one I was using was had some similarities but was not quite as up to date. My current vet recommended some things which I do not necessarily think were great suggestions (such as putting goldfishinto a little water dish so my snake could go and eat them at his leisure). However, there is another doctor working out of the same office who is on your list and was on the original one I was referring to.

Thanks for the info that is just what I needed!

That's really weird! At least you knew better than to listen to that. :) And it's a good thing there's another doctor nearby. I didn't realize that Massachusetts had so many herp vets.
It's no problem. I'm happy to help. :)

That is actually the other list that I was referring to Susielea. I found the link on the website for the New England Herpetological Society (NEHS), an organization that I found when I was researching corn snakes before buying one. They meet I think monthly about 20 minutes away (I think there is an annual membership fee which was the only reason I did not sign up or check out their meetings yet).

To be honest, I have found answers to every question I have had through searching these forums or posting threads here so I haven't really thought much more about joining (not to mention my investment in my $30.00 snake has had a funny way of increasing exponentially - money I had set aside was reallocated to finance my new Nikon p50 hehe).
