Finished setting up tank. Opinions?

Hello all!
Since I will be getting my snake on Saturday, I went ahead and set everything up.
I have a twenty gallon long with five hides, a water dish, a hammock, a uth, a thermostat, a digital thermometer, a regular thermometer, and a hygrometer.
I am using aspen as the bedding.
I have the thermostat set to 84degrees F. Is that okay? Or is it too high/low?
The cool side has been around the mid seventies to high seventies.
Should that be lower or is it okay?
The humidity levels is what I'm mainly having a problem with, in my opinion.
I've always had really high humidity levels in my room. I also think the fact I live in Florida has something to do with it.
Is there a cheap way to lower the humidity?
I don't know how accurate the hygrometer is, but it says it has been around eighty. The highest I saw it was ninety and the lowest was seventy.

I know the water dish is small. I ordered the wrong size, and I'm going to look for a bigger one a Repticon and if I don't find one I like, I'm going to look for a dog bowl.
I'm also going to look at the different plants and branches they have at Repticon, because I'd like some of those in my tank as well.

So, does anyone have any advice on the temperature and humidity levels?
And what about the overall look?
Do I have enough hides?
Did I put enough aspen in it?

Haha, sorry about the nonstop questions. This is going to be my first snake, and as I've wanted one my whole life, I want everything to be as perfect as I can get it.

I wouldn't worry too much about the humidity issue. Just provide a water dish suitable for soaking and a humid hide around shed time and it should be fine. With a screen top you have plenty ventilation and high humidity shouldn't be a problem. You have plenty of aspen in there. You can certainly get by using less, but there is no harm in using more as long as it doesn't affect your undertank heater. It can make finding small snakes more difficult.

That water bowl is an okay size. Especially if you are getting a hatchling. With those humidity levels it won't take a humid hide. Fake plants wil help with any security issues, and I think you have enough hides as it is. That's a lot of aspen. If it were me, I would take some out to where there is only about 3/4 to an inch of aspen. That way they can feel the heat from the uth.

Set-up looks good...would say a little too much aspen that could give you a little trouble finding a hatchling that has burrowed under it...but no big deal. I would add some kind of artificial greenery like plants or vines that can be found and most Dollar Stores. Water bowl should be fine for a while.

Good Job!

Todd

Thanks for all the feedback!
I'll take out some of the aspen tomorrow.
And if I can't find any fake plants and the like at Repticon, I was going to get some later at the dollar store or something.
Do you think the water bowl would be okay for a yearling?
I've been leaning more towards getting a snake that's a little bit older.
Although, I don't know what will be available at the con, so I might end up with a hatchling anyways.

Thanks! I figured that since my snake will kind of be like an early Christmas/late birthday present, that I'd make the hides look like gifts.

First of all, I love your enthusiasm. It will only increase as you enjoy your snake. I agree with your decision to get a yearling. I did, and I'm glad I did; she's a solid eater already - no surprises.

BTW, I live in Phoenix and am jealous of your humidity "problem" down there in Florida, LOL. Good Luck!!

I think it's too little aspen, if anything :)

I'd add a LOT of fake leafy vines- on the walls and along the back. Snakes don't like to be out in the open.

I'm in love with the Iron Man mask tbh. The gift wrapping idea is adorable too. Now it just needs a snake :D

Thanks for the compliments!
I just took out a bunch of aspen.
I wish it was Saturday already!
My (almost) completed tank is making me even more impatient to get my snake.
