Two years ago, I bought a pair hatchling cornsnake for my Carol Snow project.
1.0 normal het amel / hypo possible het anery
0.1 snow het hypo

Yesterday, I eventually know the result.
Twelve eggs produce 5 snow / 1 amel / 3 anery / 3 normal
I very disappointed that no any Hypo hatchling :crying:
That means all snow not Carol :crying:

What do you think about that ? Is seller not honest ?

While I don't have the slightly clue about identifying coral snows, I do know that Murphy is capricious. You may have not gotten hypos this year, may not get them next year, just due to bad luck.

Thanks Shiari

I want to prove the gene & don't waste my time to breed what not my expect.
Now am not sure the male or female haven't het hypo although seller asked me 100% het hypo.

I know some Carol Snow hatchling's color likes a common Snow, but after growth up his color will being rich.

Below Carol Snow is direct purchase from Don last year. Now she being more orange/pink than the time I got it.

It's Coral snow...

And Shiari is correct, you could just have had crappy odds. I did a Butter Motley x Caramel het Amel Motley pairing this year and got Caramel, Butters & Butter Motleys...No Caramel Motleys...It happens.

It's also my understanding that Coral Snows are difficult to identify versus normal Snows...The only way to be 100% sure it test breeding.

If both parents are only het hypo, the chances of getting 1 coral snow are only about 1 in 16. Same thing for ghost. It doesn't mean they are not het hypo, just your odds are pretty small to get one. This was the first year for the parents, maybe next year she will lay more eggs and you will have a better chance. I have a motley het amel and anery bred to an amel motley het anery. She laid 22 eggs and I didn't get one snow motley. All amel motleys, normal motleys and 1 anery motley. Weird things happen I guess. :)

Those are some pretty babies though and your coral snow is very nice. Good luck next year.

thank you for your reply & share, I worry one of their parent not het hypo during no HYPO baby this year.

I am totally new to snakes and breeding but I put my snow motley and normal together and got 17 eggs, 7 have hatched so far but still waiting for the others to catch up, these are some of my babies

You could prove the male out for being het hypo next year by breeding him to that same female to help your coral snow project and another female that's known to have the hypo gene (think ghost or something similar).

looks like other people pointed out that you could have a coral snow, but you could also have a hypo amel instead of just an amel. I don't know if there is much visual difference between the 2 as i am a first year breeder myself.

Agreed. Just the definition of the morph name tells you something:
Amelanistic - lacking melanin.
Hypomelanistic - reduced melanin.
Being that the amel removes what melanin the hypo would otherwise reduce, I am sure there are a lot of amelanistic hypos out there unknown to the owners. So you could have hypos in that clutch and just not know it because they are also amel and snow. I'd at least hold back a snow or two to watch the colors and/or test breed the parents to hypos before giving up on these guys...

Yes, I'll hold 0.2 snow hatchling & their mother becoz I also have a sub-adult 1.0 snow het hypo for next year bred. :awcrap:
