First EVER attempt at introducing corns!

Hey everyone, today I made my first attempt at introducing my two cornsnakes for breeding! I introduced my male and female in a separate bin with some newspaper inside. At first, they both freaked out, and it looked like they were even fighting a little bit. But after a few minutes, Eros, (my male) calmed down quite a bit, and started checking out my female, Cara. He then proceeded to rub his head along the length of her body, while trying to wrap his body around hers. At this point, his entire body was twitching and vibrating, especially the tip of his tail. He lifted his tail up, and I could see that his cloaca was half way open (flagging?) He continually made advances towards Cara, including lining his cloaca up with hers, but Cara just kept shrugging him off and jolting nervously. In a final attempt to mate, he bit her on the neck,:dancer: holding her in place while trying to line his cloaca up with hers again. I of course panicked a little, being the newbie I am, but then I remembered reading about corns occasionally biting the necks of their mates while attempting to copulate. After he bit her, I just decided to break them up, as I didn't want to keep putting Cara under such stress. Anyway, I am really thrilled about introducing them finally!

Please excuse any grammatical errors/weird/misplaced words, sent from mobile.

Sounds like a good start! What morphs are they? You'll be my local corn competition...I'm just down the road in Mason. :)

Eros is a Hypo motley, 100% het for caramel, 66% p\h for dilute, anery, and smell.
Cara is a Caramel stripe 100% get for caramel, 66% p\h for amel. It'll be a workload for me, trying to figure out all the possible hets in the babies :)

Oops, I meant to write Caramel stripe, 50% p/h for amel
I'm a little rusty on my genetics lately.

Also, I didn't brumate my snakes this year either.

Heheh, we all make mistakes ;) though I just noticed, what is "smell" in the hets for the boy?

Today I introduced them for a second time today. It was pretty much the same scen.ario, except Cara seemed to be somewhat more receptive. I'm hoping they'll decide to breed soon enough
