first feed

Sandra

corn neophyte
My '03 had her first fuzzy last night since we got her. She was pretty agitated when I took her out of her viv to handle her before feeding. So much so that I didn't handle her long. She seemed to be looking for something. She must have been HUNGRY. I put her in the feeding container and wiggled the fuzzy in front of her. There were 4 of us watching her, and, despite the audience, she grabbed the mouse immediately. It seemed huge for her, but within 5 minutes she had it down and was cruising around in her feed box. I put her back in her viv, she climbed the tree and looked pretty happy. :D

I fed her a head a few days ago, but this was the first time I've ever seen her or any snake down a mouse. It was super cool! My kids and my friend (who is terrified of snakes) were enchanted. Fun stuff!

She's an awesome snake. (Thank you, Gardenmum!!)

Thanks, Meg! I feel very fortunate - this little girl is a dream snake for a first time snake owner!! Not only that, but her beauty stuns me. I guess I'm hooked! :D

That's great to hear Sandra! Having a good eater is half the game in the snake world- at least as far as keeping the 'keeper' happy is concerned. ;)

I find that our snakes are generally calmer when they've recently eaten and get progressively less so as feeding day approaches, especially if their last meal was a small one.

My first one has been very easy too. She's an excellent feeder as well. I call her Orca for fun because she almost leaps out of her feeder box for her mouse. Very different from my Aztec.
