First Incomplete Shed

Bartholomew

Big Brotha Bart
Bartholomew has never had an incomplete shed before. I have kept every shed of his since I've had him.
I knew Bartholomew was getting ready to shed anytime soon, and today I come home from school and I see his shed laying there. I put a smile on my face and went to go pick it up. Once I completley took it out, I saw that the head and part of the body was missing from the shed. I looked for Bartholomew and when I took him out, I had examined his entire body and found that no shed was stuck on to him. I kept looking further and found the other shed pieces laying in oposite sides of the enclosure. It seems to me that he had some trouble taking this one off.

Plus he left a huge poop right in the center of the shed, so I had to throw it away (Wasnt in the mood to wash anything) and the shed wasnt complete anyways it was best to just throw it away.

So 3 years with complete perfect sheds. And that ends today :(

Oh well... How long has your snake gone with perfect sheds?

Same here, which is why the comment about having to throw it away and not washing it off threw me off a little bit. I can't imagine where I'd possibly store a ton of old sheds.

They are pretty fragile. Sometimes they just break.

I doubt that was the case... It looked like he strugled to get it off, and many pieces were scattered around the enclosure...

Do you normally keep the sheds?

Yes! Since I only have one snake, and he's my prized possession, I like to keep his sheds. (Its like a mom keeping the babies hair on its first haircut) Haha.

Like I said, he's my prized possession :)

I gotcha! Your snake really is your little baby! I found a shed last night in my bedroom that my escaped yearling must have deposited on my shelf during the month he was on the run. It was super interesting and I did think about keeping it for a minute, because it shows where some of his battle scars from the cats clawing him were and scabs that were healing, but did end up throwing it away.

I think snakes are amazing overall, and since he is my first snake, i'd like to remember him if something happens.. Haha.

If all the skin came off, I would not consider it incomplete. My corn had his first broken one too when I switched to aspen from paper towels, it was a little disappointing (I save the skins too), but I'm used to having broke but complete sheds from my ball python.
