First night at home

ok, well last night was my 3 new corns first nite at home! YAY! Anyways, my snow corn, Bianca, seemed very calm. She was more calm then the rest. I want to clarify that I only held them when I took them out of their shipping containers and put them into their tanks. Needed to feel their muscle tone.
Well, Rocko, my rev okeetee, was freaking out! He kept circling the perimeter of his cage franticly and trying to climb up the side. I guess he got tired because then he ended up hiding in his hole. Then my creamsicle, Penny, dug into the aspen the second she was in her cage! Funny little guys! Rocko was "rattling" his tail a bit at first, what does that mean? He is scared?

Tail Rattling

From what I have experienced, tail rattling is used as a defense mechanism. My adult corn has done it on occasion, usually if Im messing around in his cage while hes trying to eat. The first time he did it, I'm pretty sure it was out of fear, as it was night time and I dont think he saw me coming (he was still small then).

Congratulations on getting your new babies home. It sounds like everything went fine. You can see by their different reactions to a new home how individual they are:D Rocko will calm down in time. He was just warning you to stay away. Funny considering how small they are!! I hope all goes well and they get settled in and eat for you:)

Thanks, yeah, they are so totally cute and I am just smitten! I cant wait until I can try to feed them. Oh I hope they are all great eaters!:D

i got an okeetee that rattles, then he strikes. hes still little but ive noticed he has almost stopped. he may rattle but no more striking.
my ghost also ralltes, shes young and begining to stop.

i also had a rat snake that rattled musked and bit. i hated that damn snake.

i caught a normal motly lookin snake and she rattled.

ill bet your okeetee settles down. all my corns have, rat never did :(

good luck
