First regurgitation :(

Hi all,

So today we woke up to find that our youngest snake (about 3 months old) regurgitated for the first time. My second snake, who is about 8 months old, has never regurged, so I'm not really sure of the cause. We recently changed out her hide for a bigger one, but this is the only change she has had recently. Does anyone know if this could have been stressful enough to cause the regurge? Or could it be something else? She doesn't seem to be showing any other signs of stress. It took her a while to use the new hide, but she does now just fine. Any ideas?

Thanks for all your help!

Common causes could be snake is in shed, too cold or too warm, disturbed while digesting, prey size too large.

Less common causes would be disease or parasites.

You want to not feed her for 8-10 days from her last feeding, unless she is blue, then wait till after she sheds, in addition to the waiting period.

Feed her a pinky head for her first meal, then wait 4-5 days, then 1/3 a pink, then half a pink cut lengthwise, then the other half, then the other 2/3, in two pieces, then a very small whole pink, cut in half or thirds.

I think it is quite important to get Nutribac from Kathy Love and powder all future meals with it, for a minimum of six months. http://www.cornutopia.com

Then, I would avoid feeding that snake in blue. I would never intentionally do that. I would be extra-conservative in prey size increases, too.
