First snake buddy

It wasn't long before i had done all the reading and research that I was already hooked. About a week later i began shopping for my soon to be, first snake buddy. Yesterday, I found the perfect one! It is a young, very brightly colored amel, not sexed, I'm guessing about 3-2 months old. It was rarely handled before and is already extremely tame. In fact its basking in th warmth of my palm as I type this out (so you can blame him/her for the typos).

Now a little about myself, I'm 19 from Ottawa Ontario, currently attending the University of Ottawa. I'm and avid snowboarder, wakeboarder and skateboarder, so pretty much anything with a board under your feet is my cup of tea.

I'll be looking forward to meeting you and getting to learn more about our common passion through interactions with you all on this forum. I have already met certain wonderful people on the CHAT and they were very helpful and welcoming so I will be looking forward to meet you all during my time here on cornsnakes.com!

I wish to you all a great day, and some happy snaking!

Nice to meet you and congrats, it's very addicting!

I would just like to say though, that if you only got your little friend yesterday you should probally let him settle in and adjust, do everything by the book for your first snake.

Yah, thats probably a good thing, the guys at the zoo said it wasn't a big deal to leave him alone since he was already so calm and sociable, but I think you're right, its no big deal to let him settle in.

(PS i said zoo because its 'Little Ray's Reptile Zoo' but they also have a shop attached)

Thanks for all the welcomes people!!!

Hey Zion, welcome again, glad you finally got a little comfortable in the chat lst night.
I do agree with leaving your snake alone to settle in for a few days. susan

there he is, bad pic, but I'll get some more later.

Hi and welcome. Your snake is so cute! Does he have a name yet? The people here are so wonderful, you can pretty much get an answer to any question you have. Don't be afraid to ask the "dumb" questions either. :grin01:

First feeding went great!!! no hesiation at all, I'm very pleased, I fed him in a tub and let him swallow it down for a few minutes then I put the tub in the tank and tipped it a bit, and let him slither out of the tub and right into his cave hide. I'll leave him alone for 48 hours or more. Hopefully I wont find a regurge in there lol. How long before he poops though?
