Fluorescent light?

The first month i had my corn I had a 60 watt zoo med daybulb that was on a dimmer. Since this wat has UVA ( and possible UVB ) rays I lost the light and replaced it with a 15 watt dimmable fluorscent bulb last week ( i ust found out that they sold dimmable bulbs). I put this bulb on the lowest setting the dimmer will allow it to go. I got it from Lowes, and it doesn't get hot at all, but I was not sure if this light is harming my Opal's eyes. Until school start I have the light on for 8-10 hours a day. When I start school back up again I think it will be on for 6-8 hours a day. Is there another light I can or should use for my viv?

Also I have my Opal in my room, which is where I do work at night. I turn off his light at 6pm, and turn on a low lit lamp on the other side of the room to do my work til about midnight. Is this low lighting too bright for him, would it be necessary to darken his cage with a background or something behind his viv?

Light is not really very important to corn snakes. Unless it is really an intense bright light I would not worry about it one way or another. The lights in the room for your convenience will not bother the snake at all. Don’t worry about it.

At night I uses a dark purple light that emits a very low ambient heat and the light doesn't bother me at night. I have found that Erricca loves it and stays under it most of the night.

I also leave my lamp on at night to do work. It doesn't bother her at all
