For Jazz: Management update

Hey Jazz! Just wanted to let you know that my promotion is final, and I'm in Getsmart (our management training program) for 2 weeks. They set me up in a suite, gave me my own Petsmart credit card for meals, paying my mileage, the whole 9. Also got a nice $3 an hour hike in pay and 10 more hours a week with 5 hrs overtime allowance. I'm pretty happy about it.

We also have a defector from your (and our) old nemesis. :grin01: I've heard alot about them and realize your nightmare lol. Having a blast so far and learning alot. The store I'm training at is a test store for snakes, and they are really nice. They have a Cali King, Fl King, a snow, and 2 ghosts. Not a huge markup on the corns, $39.99, not sure on the kings, $59.99. Can't come right out and tell you the supplier, but alot of folks get their nice red and orange beardies from them.

Have a great day! :wavey:

Just out of curiosity how is PetSmart selling snakes when their cooperate philosophy is that pets are to be loved and not used as food and the policy is they don't sell feeder rodents? I know that a few years back they experimented with snakes feeding them the TRex Snake Sausage. However, that failed miserably because less then half of the snakes would eat them and they had a number of deaths due to starvation.

Petsmart is actually now carrying frozen rodents. Of course they are ridiculously overpriced, but it is a start.

We sure are, we carry "Artic Mice" by TRex, and get our frozen mice in bags of 50 from them for store use.

Wow well that is news to me. The last time I checked the stores here on the west coast still won't sell feeders. I'll have to check with them again.

Our Petsmart doesn't sell feeders either. Not that I'd buy them anyway, too expensive from what some folks say.

I even asked an associate about it, and she told me the spiele that they don't agree with using other animals as food. And with that I glance over to the big tanks of feeder fish and feeder crickets...

I guess so long as you're a mammal you're free from being eaten in the world.

Yes, quite a contradiction of terms We wont sell live mice or rats for feeders, but we will sell feeder rosies, comets, crickets, and FROZEN mice. In the animal world, according to to the seagull in "Finding Nemo", birds gotta eat, fish gotta swim....... :shrugs:
I don't defend their thinking, I just work for them.

Jen -

Congrats on the promo! Wow, it seems you guys take FAR better care of your own than Petco does/did (which is one of the MANY reasons why I'm outta there!).

And yeah, although Petco sells live mice as feeders, they're trained to "encourage" the use of f/t.

Also, your corns run about 10 bucks cheaper than at Petco, IIRC. I'd be interested in finding out who your vendor(s) is/are. Keep me posted, and enjoy the training while you're away from handholding retail teens! ;)

regards,
jazz

i was shocked to find out that the petsmart here also is now selling frozen and live feeders. a few months ago, i got lectured by one of the workers for trying to buy a feeder mouse for my friend's ball python.
i guess they changed their policies...they still dont sell snakes though.
