For John F. Buckskin Okeetees hatching with a HUGE surprise!

Tara80

ACR Breeder # 787
I bought a pair of Buckskin Okeetees from John back at Daytona a few years ago, and this was their first year breeding.
They are some of the most gorgeous buckskins ever (I may be partial to them) but they only laid 8 good eggs, which have just been hatching recently.

Well, to my surprise, I could barely breathe when I saw them....
BOTH buckskins proved to be het amel.

Thanks to John, I've got some AMAZING RO Buckskin Okeetees hatching out now!!!!!!!!!
One is already out of the egg and two more are currently showing their heads.

Here's a pick of the one that's out.

I will add more pics as time goes on.

Again, thank you SO MUCH John.

I am so sorry I didn't tell you they were het amel!! It was a combo pair I got from Carol and the dad was a RO. Not near as nice as that one. That is one incredible RO. Please put me on the list for a male to go with the only female I have left. Don has the parents of those now.
Very cool
John

Thanks everyone!

John, when they shed, I will sex them and let you know.
I'm super glad you didn't tell me (OR more likely, that I had forgotten) because it was the best surprise on earth to see these little ones hatch. It literally made my year.

Wow Tara80- supurb looking RO---John is a great guy with wonderful animals---I bet it did take your breath away when you saw that first baby! Thats a holdback for sure!

Tara,
Congratulations! Look forward to seeing pics from the rest of the group.

Take care!

Amazing animal!
I agree with Nanci I giggle every time I read your title. John F. Buckskin our newest member. :D

Thanks all!!

Yeah, I was too excited to type that out with proper punctuation!! :D

I have two more ROs out this morning that look just like the first one. I'm definitely holding one back! An RO is actually a mutation/line bred combo that I have yet to have in my collection, so I'm very excited to keep one of these guys.

Since this was the female's first clutch, she laid a fairly small clutch of 8 eggs. They are all hatching but one of the buckskin babies got his umbilical cord stuck in the egg shell when he came out and it pulled a bunch of intestine out with it.

Unfortunately, I had to euth him but I've got 4 nice and healthy hatchlings out so far and (keeping my fingers crossed) for the other 3 to hatch healthy.

I'm sorry, I can't stop reading the title as John F. Buckskin...

Me too!

Thanks all!!
