Found Long-lost corn baby. Advice?

Hello everyone,

You may or may not remember me posting pictures of Coatlicue (now called "Midgee") last August... That October, she went missing and I never had hopes of finding her again, assuming she was lost in our heating vents.

Well, I found her in my clothes in the basement yesterday, looking exactly the same as the day before she went missing. I was just wondering if anybody has any advice on how to make sure she gets back into tip-top shape? I've fed her 3 pinks, kept the heat on and there is plenty of water in her enclosure...is there anything else I can do? She appears alert and healthy but is otherwise lethargic.

Thank you!

She is probably lethargic because she is or soon will be going blue due to the good meals!

That's crazy! Glad you found her. I'd just ease her back into a regular feeding schedule. Since she went so long without food maybe feed every other week. Make sure to let her be and provide plenty of water, warmth and hiding spots.

Amazing! You'd wonder how she she managed not to get skinny... perhaps she had a long winter sleep, but still.... amazing!

Thank you for all the well wishing :] but maybe I should have this moved to health issues, now:

When I checked on her this morning, Midgee was fine, but through the course of the day, she has only moved once, and is making no effort to hide, and when I pick her up, she makes no effort to support herself, hold on to me, or flee in any way. Should I be more concerned?

When you hold her, say draped over your hand or a couple fingers, does she hang like a noodle? If you touch her, does she have any reaction at all? If she's hanging like a noodle, that's usually not a good sign! Did you feed her 3 pinkies all at once, or on 3 separate feeds?

If she is at least somewhat alert and holding herself up, I'd say its probably okay she is not moving a lot, but to keep an eye on her. If you just just found her, it might be a good idea to give her a week or so to settle in and work her back up to a bigger meal.

Well, I think holding her when she has eaten the day before and has been through loads of stress for months, might not be the best idea whatever is going on. I know you only want to do good, but checking her out all the time ain't gonna work, it's gonna make it worse. I've learned to decide to do something and do it, or to leave the snake alone, though it is very hard. If it's close to passing to the other side already, you won't be able to help her anymore. For me a clear sign is, when a (suspected) ill snake leaves its hide and stays outside for hours/days without curling up and very little movement. They also feel very weak then and hardly move when you touch their tail for example. I think you should either go see a reptile vet a.s.a.p. or let her be on her own for a couple of days at least. Good lucck, be strong!

Just a brief update:

I've been leaving Midgee alone since my previous post, and she seems to be doing a little better. She's definitely not limp like a noodle anymore, but she's still pretty sedentary and still sits in the open.

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I'll update again if there's any big improvement.

A more exciting update!

Midgee shed two nights ago-- and she is doing much, much better! She's aware of herself again and makes efforts to hide herself, and in her spare time she explores her tank and tries to find new ways to escape.

Thanks so much for all the help. Maybe I'll post pics in the future :]
