Freezer issues!

Ok...well...Im having trouble keeping my frozen mice ... FROZEN! My roommates have decided that fullsize white furry mice in the freezer is unacceptable. (Only because i was out of town when the order came and my next door neighbor stuck them in the freezer and didnt wrap them in foil or anything, so a roommate came home and went 'hmm whats in here??' and it was a bunch of mice.

So now I have the mice in my mini fridge (which has a mini freezer) the problem is, the top package of mice isnt going to stay frozen that way...So, are there mini freezers? I really REALLY dont want to buy a good size freezer for a few mice! Or I can just take my mice, wrap them well and put them back in the freezer and label them as something else?

I dont know what to do, but if I cant get them frozen quick 25 mice or so are going to go to waste real fast!

I would try just wrapping them up really well in several layers of tin foil or several ziplock baggies, etc. and see if that will fly with the roomies. Hopefully, if they see what little space they take up and how well they are wrapped up they wont mind so much. I have taken over one whole shelf of the freezer door and my roommates don't mind since I keep everything wrapped and clean. :)

Yes, there are smallish deep freezers available. Look to spend around $100 for one and it's probably bigger than what you need. They are sold everywhere...Wal-Mart, Sears, Target, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.

I keep my mice in ziploc baggies and then in opaque tupperware containers that are clearly marked. No one seems to mind those. They did however take issue with the wrapped newspaper bundles in there.

As Quigs "did R said", small freezers are available and not expensive.

Another option to getting one is to look up you local "Freecycle" organisation. (basically they are community based recyclers, people post unwanted, useable items or you can request items, depending on their local "rules") I got a small freezer from my local group that is the size of a mini fridge and currently freezes over 300+ mice with no problems, even better than having a freezer just for feeders, it was free. :crazy02:

Try Costco if you have one nearby. I looked at one the other day for 80 but still probably bigger than u need. Good luck w/ your roomies, I hope they come around.
