Freezing mites

I recently started a collection of snakes after many years of being out of the hobby. I have not dealt with mites in many years, and in the past many animals I rescued would have mites and be quarrantined and would be treated with as many means as would be needed. I recently aquired 2 new charges and one of them has mites. The other one probably does too, they are both separate and I used natural chemistry's reptile spray, and someone recomended putting the cage decor in the freezer. Does this really work. I know heat kills them, but never heard of freezing. Any other suggestions its been 15 years since I kept snakes and Im feeling like a newb. Besides pests strips and mineral oil, Im unsure what to use as there are a bunch of new products on the market.

I've been told that PAM (Provent A Mite) is one of the best ways to erradicate mites.

I will be following what a friend of mine does from here on out. Any new snake will be put in a bin that has been sprayed with PAM, with papertowel(s), that have also been sprayed with PAM.
I recently found mites on one of my snakes, & will be treating the entire room. Each snake will be put in a treated, temporary bin, as I clean & treat their bin. Once the enclosure is dry, I will return the snake to it's bin.
Also, I will be pre-treating several sheets of newspaper, & store them in a extra bin in a closet. When I change out newspaper in the bins, I will replace with a treated newspaper, for 45days.

I am also worried the rest of my collection will now get mites. The one with visible mites is in a 10 gallon. It sits above on a stand next to another stand with 6 reptile enclosures. I already moved the infected snake out of the room. I need to order pam, the local pet spots dont have it.

I've heard that once you see them on one, it's best to treat them all at the same time, otherwise they could be moving from one to the next.
PAM is on sale here http://www.pro-products.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=59

One thing you can do since you don't have the PAM yet, is set up a securable tub (like a 64qt tub) & fill it about 1/3 of the way with water (temp about 77-80 degress) & put the snake in there for about 20 minutes, you can check on them periodcally, & the water should drown any existing mites. I would do this with any snakes with visable mites, then treat the whole group of enclosures when you get the PAM.

Done

I have done that twice already and used the reptile spray and there are no visible mites, I am repeating the treatment now since its been 3 days and will continue until I get the pam...None of the other snakes show any signs, but My two cal kings and 2 milk snakes are unusually restless and they just ate on sunday morning.... Thanx for the info
