Fresh pics, after shed.....

I know the pics are really bad. I can't take a close shot to save my life. But the color is real. No enhancements. Not as fresh as I would like. He shed on Wednesday and pics were taken on Sunday.

What a pretty blue creature s/he is!

And, did you have to say, "My, what a big MOUTH you have!!" when she opened up to bite? That's what I first thought when I saw the photo :).

WOW!!! The color is outstanding! Big time congrats on that one. I hope that it breeds for you... that is, if that is what you intend to do!

UG I LOVE IT Is it a Puget Sound garter? Those are the only ones I know of that are blue, but I think there are some others. Friggin love them.

I've been wanting a snake that color for a long time! What is that gorgeous critter?! <33

New species:

Angrius Handbitius (Blue Knuckle Biter)
Identified by beautiful blue coloring and appetite for human knuckle flesh.

Seriously though, it is a beautiful snake.

I've only ever seen one garter snake.... I was maybe four. It was sunning itself on the sidewalk at a park I went to and it looked for all world like a shoelace—black with two yellow stripes, one on each side. I went to pick it up and it took off like a rocket! XD Apparently, the blue one's live around here, but I've never seen one.

That's it. If I ever see one like this and catch it, I'm keeping it. XD That beauty would be too blue to release, IMHO.

What an absolutely gorgeous snake! The color's stunning, and it's got attitude! Keep those pictures coming! I'm dying to see more of her/him

It is Nanci......

Is that a local snake, Craig? I've seen one nearly that blue, but it was a big adult.

The first day out on the USF job I found him/her less than 100ft in the front gate. Is taking silversides from my hand. There is an evening hunt road cruise scheduled for September BTW.

Great responses folks,thanks......

This is just a good ole Florida Blue.

Bluestripe Gartersnake.
Thamnophis sirtalis similis

That was my thought when I moved to Polk County and started catching the blues. But they are evidently localized to Polk. Blue Stripe Garters occur a little West of this area from Withlacootchee to the West Coast.

She was stuck for about 5 minutes. We both had to tough it out till she got herself/himself free.

Maybe down the road.
