Freshly Shed Hickory

Hickory had her 2nd shed on Wednesday, six days after her arrival. Sorry that her head's not quite in focus but you can see how nice and bright her colors are. The photo was taken last night prior to feeding, when she took 2 small pinkies in quick succession. So far she loves to eat and doesn't seem to mind at all if we watch.

I assume you are going to buy at least 2 more corns named Dickory and Doc!
Good guess but no. Hickory is named for the song, Hickory Wind, by Gram Parsons. The first line is, "In South Carolina, there are many tall pines." Hickory is a locality Okeetee. Get it?

For those who don't know him, Gram Parsons is a country music singer and songwriter, who died in 1973 at age 27. He also performed with and wrote songs for the Doors and he was a mentor to a very young Emmylou Harris. Rolling Stone ranked him #87 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

Abby's an unselfconscious piglet, too :) After seeing Hickory, I can't wait for Abby to shed.
