My mouse breeding program has definitely not saved me much money, but I noticed the awesomest thing lately. All my current mice are descended from one male and 4 females. The male is a "satin" mouse with a distinctive coat that is iridescent, and the females were various colours with normal fur. The first generation had normal fur, but the second generation produced from half-brothers bred to half-sisters turned out one quarter satin coats! Gregor Mendel would have been so proud.
