fuzzies to rat pinkies

Is it ok to go from fuzzies to rat pinkies instead of hoppers. My local store only has mouse pinkies, fuzzies and adults. But they have rat pinkies which are about the same size as the mouse fuzzies. Is it ok to switch to the rats or would i be better off getting some hoppers online.
 
Yes but be careful and watchful about your snake gaining weight. I use rat pinks on my sub adult but only after the pinks have a belly full of milk.(advantages of raising most of my own feeders) Remember, your growing snake needs a good source of calcium for good bone growth and pinkies bones have not yet fully formed, so the calcium levels tend to be lower. Also rats tend to have more protein and fat which "can" (not always) make your snake gain weight faster and sometimes not in a healthy way. If you watch your snake and keep a good check on its health you should be fine supplementing rats into its diet... :) Buzz
 
I occasionally have trouble switching snakes who have been fed rat pinks/fuzzies back to mice.
