One of my students was given this little one by his dad. All I know is it is from the Phoenix area. Of course the kid tried to pick it up by the tail, and it seems to be real thin...also the left eye seems to close a lot.
How big is it bandeds are very very small only a few inches full grown. i would also use papertowels for substrate aspen is great for snakes, but not so much geckos. Cute little guy was it wild caught?
Yeah it was wild caught, thanks for the ID...now to set up a home for it. Can they be kept with other species of gecko or should I try to find another banded. I don't even know the sex of the poor little thing.
Jerry
I doubt its a leopard, but after looking better does look like a western banded lizard which are native to Arizona. I wouldn't cohab him/her with anyone until you have seen a vet and cleared up any wormies or parasites most w/c animals carry. Bandeds aren't big or fat like leopard geckos, but are from the same family. Heres a link which will tell you a little more http://www.reptilesofaz.com/Lizards-Subpages/h-c-variegatus.html
There are a few suspect pores, but that may be pseudo pores depending on the age. I would say female, but do a pore check again in 3-6 months. Pores look like dark spots or dimples in the middle of the scales. There are usually a few rows of them- hope this helps!
