A female should be 300+ grams, 3+ feet long, and 3+ years old (generally).
There really are no guidelines for males, except that the smaller and/or younger they are, the less likely they are to achieve maximum fertility rates.
It is really all upto the breeder. I personally, breed my females at 200 grams as long as they are 3 years old. I also base my decision on how good of a feeding response they have. I have been doing this the past two or three years and I have not had any ill effects. Your clutches are smaller sometimes. I had a 3 year old amel who was 210 grams when she ovulated. I bred her and she laid 11 perfect, fertile eggs. She had a perfect appetite after laying and gained her weight back great.
