The Charmer
hi i currently have a corn in a 3ft viv.. shes only yung and is 15".. wud it be ok to introduce a second corn around same size or not?

Housing two together is not too good of an idea. If you do a search you'll find a number of threads on this subject.

This subject has so many opinions. I think it is fine, I have two living together. There are many people that house corns together with no problems, feed them seperate, keep them seperate after feeding for 30 minutes, handle them both regularly to keep them tame. People keep Kingsnakes together, and those are known to be cannabalistic in the wild, corns aren't known to be cannabalistic in the wild, but of course it happens, just take all the right precausions with feeding and such. Good Luck.

I have two seperate pairs living in the same viv...has been like this for over two years with NO problems!!!

rolph1414 i've kept aa pair together for 13 years with no problems, but we already know blckkat's opinion of my experience and advice.

13 years though with out ever having a problem. need i say more?

The Corn Snake Manual pages 14-15, section called "Number of Snakes Per Enclosure", gives common sense advice about keeping more than one Corn per viv.

I've also kept pairs and trios together for 13 years without problems. Never more than one male per tank though.

Why not your the only one who is PMing me with abuse.

My way has worked for me and many other snake keepers, and you are the only person keeping this debate going with me.

Thanks kel, I have just sent the same info to blckkat in a pm, i wonder if he has read the corn snake manual and understand the recomendations?

I don't think he would argue with Katy love about the subject though, or would s/he?

you're so obnoxious. I am not harrassing you. I simply told you I found it amusing that you gave me a negative rep point because I disagreed with you. I believe it was YOU that started all that crap with "because you're american you think you're right." either way. I've come to learn that you are immature and not up to my intellectual level since you can not accept someone elses opinion. As I had said...I understand your OPINION on the matter and I simply do NOT agree.

I accept your opinion, i never said i didn't, but it's the way you go about things and try and billitle and bully people into thinking things are your way or no way, that bugs me.
As to the rep point, yeah i did but only because your attitude stink's, I love my negative rep point by the way, i want to keep hold of that, and by the way the american thing i appologise to every one else, as it was aimed soley at you blckkat.
Interlect? theirs a few way to determine that and mine is above average, as is my IQ.
Why not do what i do and consentrate on giving advice to the best of your ability, and do so in "your opinion" and i will do in "my opinion".

I have a great idea folks to give more insight from a pro. Maybe we could email Kathy since she is a member of this forum and ask her to please elaborate on her ideas of keeping more than 1 corn in the same viv? I, for one, would be curious to hear from her now that they have updated the Cornsnake Manual for 2005.

I agree with cornman, and most of the people that dont agree with keeping them together, never tried to keep them together, they just dont cause they hear stories about canibalistic ones and such, but, of course you will hear those ones most, not the ones about corns living fine together, unless it's in a discussion like this.

You are wrong in your assumption. I have housed corns together in the past when space wasn't available. I have never had any cannibalistic problems. I choose not to house them together for a number of reasons. First is there is a possibility of cannibalism. Second is if you have more than one in a viv or tub and you have a regurge you won't know which is having the problems. I keep records of things like that and shedding, which can't be done accurately when housing them together.

ok i have already posted this under cuddling corsnakes but will post it here as well ~

let me tell a little story ~
now i kept two girlies together for 3 years solid not once did i have a problem until one night, one decided that a mouse wasnt enough and struck point blank at the others face, luckily my dad was standing there and parted them immediately.
i was always one of these peeps that always said housing more than one snake is okay, i was wrong! luckily both snakes were okay but what if me or my dad wasnt there, the smaller one would have actually ate the larger one and i would have lost both, now im on the side of never to house them together ever again for any resaon, i do not breed them as they are my pets and i do not want to risk egg-binding. i have bred them in the past but all 3 occasions were actually accidential.
anyways my point is, some peeps always say it can never happen to them, believe me, i used to be one, but it can happen to absolute anyone.
some peeps will just have to learn the hard way and find a regurgitated dead snake in their viv one day, or worse two dead snakes.

not trying to scare anyone here, or say anybody is wrong, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, this is just what i have experienced.
:)

I am definitely in the camp of not keeping them together, and I never will. Not worth it in my opinion to take a chance, or not to know which snake may be sick and have to pay vet bills for both to find out. OR possibly losing one that was impacted or the bowel was obstructed, but I didn't know because I couldn't tell it wasn't pooping.

I am just curious as to whether or not Kathy and Bill Love will have changed their reasonings or recommendations for their updated manual and have emailed her to check out these threads.
