Getting Into Corns

So, I have decided to get a corn snake. I currently have a Kenyan Sand Boa I have had since March, but am ready to add something else. We have Repticon coming to town this weekend, so I plan to add something then. Any advice on what to look for? I am new to corn snakes, and snake keeping, but have always had a passion for all snakes. I was the kid that would save the snake from getting killed all the time.

What all do I need for the set up?
-20 gallon long
-already have aspen
-hides
-already have water dish

What about heat? I leave in South Carolina, so do I need a constant uth like with the Kenyan or will something else be ok?

A UTH regulated by a thermostat is generally recommended to keep a constant gradient (80-85 warm side, 75-ish cool side), although I rarely used the UTH during the hot summer months here in Pennsylvania, so your mileage may vary. If you use AC to cool your house, you'll likely need the UTH/thermostat to keep an appropriate warm side

Yeah, we use AC in the summer since it gets really hot. Where is the best place to get a good thermostat?

Thanks, any advice on what to look for at the show? I have been looking at the different morphs on here, and there is so much to look at.

I'm going to be at that show, too! Your best bet is to probably just wander around, and see if anything catches your eye. You could also check out Ian's Vivarium. Lots of pictures of the different morphs.

Do you have a favorite color? Just a heads up, as you look at the Ian's vivarium site notice that hatch-lings usually change somewhat as they grow into adults.

I really don't have a favorite color. I am really thinking a Okeetee might be the way I go.

my little avatar <----------- over there is snickers my okeetee. Love his coloring and checkerboard belly

I too love the okeetee. I have a reversed okeetee though. I think he is absolutely STUNNING with his color. Good luck with your search. I too just got into cornsnakes.
