Ghost VS Anery?

Hi guys.

Quick question. Is there a difference between Ghost morph and the black albino/anerythristic (can't spell it!). Just curious!

Grazie.

Anery (anerythristic) is a morph that lacks all red pigmentation, which makes the snake grey toned.

Ghost is a combination of anerythristic and hypomelanistic traits. Hypomelanistic reduses the amount of black pigment melanine, which makes the snake lighter in colour. So ghost is a hypomelanistic version of anery. Hypomelanism also may richen the colours so sometimes ghosts are rather brownish with a hint of pink tone. There's quite a variation of colour among ghosts. (Just like with pretty much all the morphs) Some are more of pure grey, others are browner. Some are really pale, some darker. Ghosts tend to have the same yellow tone in their neck as Anerys.

Here's a picture of my Ghost (pastel) Motley female. Not a very good picture because the perspective makes the head look smaller than it is, but at least the colour is quite correct. :)

This clutch of ghosts and anerys (normal pattern and motleys) shows the difference nicely.

Too further add to the differences, I have 3 holdback babies from this year...two ghost motleys and an anery motley, all full sublings. These three ought to give you a good idea of the differences, and the variations in color and pattern:

As you can see, both of the ghosts are much lighter overall, and the anery appears to have a much darker "melanin wash" over the dorsal area. This darker melanin content is the main difference. The hypomelanism in ghosts removes this darker wash...
