hey i'm going on vacation pretty soon, i'll be gone for a little over a week,

i'm just wondering if anyone has any tips for while i'm gone.. i'm not going to get any friends over to my house to check on my young amel corn snake

so i had just fed him tuesday, we're leaving saturday, i figured i'd feed him a mouse saturday morning, it's a little close to tuesday, but i think it'll be fine, and she may be starving when we get back, so any other tips?

Well, make sure it has plenty of fresh water and i THINK you're pretty good. He should be just fine so long as temperatures are steady, right? I'd like to hear from other people as well just to back me up, I'm new to this, but I think I know my corn info pretty well.

Leave two bowls of water in case she poops in one. I might even skip that Saturday feeding. How old is your snake? She would only go 11 or 12 days without eating- same as if she was blue and she missed a meal. Better than feeding too soon and risking a regurge, which you wouldn't be there to observe. Yeah, you read here all the time about escapes that happen when snakes are being babysat.

Your corn will be fine, waiting a little longer for food. Try feeding him Friday so you can clean any poo the next day. When i go away i always put two water bowels into the tank, try to keep them on the cool side.

Yeah I'd go with holding off on the feeding so that you can try to keep the drinking water clean just in case, I also recommend the two water dishes.
What kind of heating unit do you have for your corn?

That's too close to the previous feeding on Tuesday.

And I wouldn't turn the thermostat for the house lower than 65F, even if you normally would to save energy while you are gone.

i just use a home made rheostat with uth, it stays very steady in temperature as long as the room stays steady, so i will probably ask my parents if they plan on lowering house temp, and try to convince them not to..
thx for the tips i'll do the second water dish

Still unclear

I am going away on Christmas eve and will return on the 27th,a total of 3 days. Will the water that I give them be ok until then?I know they are meant to have frsh water everyday.I just love my two corns and want to be reassured because I am not sure that i can make other arrangements.

...3 days. Will the water that I give them be ok until then?

It'll be fine as long as they don't poop in it. The insurance against that, is to put an extra water bowl in with them while you're away. The odds of them pooping in both are pretty long unless they're already in that habit.

I leave mine all the time for 2-3 days at a time due to work... WATER is the key. I have the same response, put in 2 waters bowls and your snake will be fine.

well back from vacation, she was in blue phase today and wow ever feisty. :crazy02:

yeah. swallowed the pinkey i gave her in like.. 45 secs :bang:
