Going rate for live pinkies

ultimuttone

Murphy is my Sancho :/
Just wondering what everyone is paying for live pinks these days. I haven't had anything on pinks or live for quite some time but with my newest additions it is currently a necessity. I couldn't believe the price, $5.99 each for day old pinks! Is that ridiculous or what. Last time I was using live pinks they were .99 a piece and I thought that was silly.
Since I only need at most 3 every 10 days or so it is too often and not enough quantity to breed my own. But that is going to work out to over fifty bucks a month to feed 3 snakes that won't ever graduate to a fuzzies  Is that really the going rate these days?

I was getting them at $1 ea, have seen them as little as .95
and as much as $1.29 ea. At shows they were .50 ea.

That is rediculous IMO. I wouldn't pay it. I think they are pricey at $2.00, which is the best I've found them for. My spot charges the same for them no matter the size as well. I rarely use them as it is.

Shop around, I think you'll find a better price.

I'd agree that is WAY overpriced. I pay 1.09 for each mouse (no matter what size), and I consider that to be too much. I'd complain the the manager...

I manage at a reptile store, and breed our own mice for sale, we sell day olds for .40 cents, regular size pinks for .50 cents, fuzzies .65, hoppers .85, and adults 1.00... WAY over priced

The problem is I am not in a very big town and other than pets**** there are only 2 real pet stores and so unless I drive to Nashville I am stuck. Of course the gas would make Nashville pinks extremely expensive.
I was just curious if it was just me or that $6 a pink is ridiculous. I sure hope I can get these guys onto f/t because this bites.

I am in a town with 14k people, we are the ONLY petstore within an hour drive, and we still are cheap..

I don't understand it other than people like me end up paying it out of need. They charge outrageous prices for frozen feeders as well and get them from the same supplier I do. I am tempted to get a couple breeder mice and just feed any extras to the kings. I just hate to get into the hassle of mice.

Mice are really no hassle, Have bigger number of females,
I do 1.8 mice per bin, and deal with hundreds and hundreds of mice, but only about 40 are male, that makes alot less stink, i have a watering system and a feeding system, and i clean them every 3 days, I can't imagine having 1.4 being ANY trouble at all... or even 1.2

get a pair of fancies, let her keep them as pets, under the condition that you can harvest the "ugly" little pinkies,

LMOA, she won't buy that one, but I'll let her pick some pretty colors and threaten to bring the snakes down to see her if she doesn't give up the babies. J/K... I think. I am still in sticker shock over the mice.
