Goo gone smell in viv

I had a thread about this maybe a week ago and wasn't sure if anyone would respond so I started a new thread so sorry if I wasn't supposed to do that I'm still new :-offtopic . Anyway after a week of soaking the viv with everything in the house that would deodorize it I think the smell is finally gone. So I wanted to know if any small spots that might be there would harm my snake. It doesn't smell at all to me, but just in case I want to know if it would be alright to set my corn up in there.

I'm not sure what you used to deodorize the viv, but I would be more worried about chemical residue at this point than the smell. I would recommend soaking it in just plain water if you're worried. But you're definitely right to get other opinions!

What's your viv made of (glass, plastic, etc.)?

By the way, I looked at the other thread and it appears there were a few responses.

The cage is glass and the thing I wanted to know is if any missed spots could harm the snake because I tried everything from the other thread just to get the smell nearly gone. I think I finally got the smell completely gone.

All the stuff I told you wouldn't harm the snake. (Lemon juice, vinegar, ivory dish soap) I'd just rinse well with warm water now, and then wipe the inside with a paper towel to see if you pick up any residue.

What the hell did you have in there?! A week of constant soaking? :bird:

Sorry I should've elaborated more, but I meant the stuff from the other thread I had on this subject. I didn't soak it in bleach or nothin like that.

In the future I would recommend using lighter fluid…aka naptha.

It doesn’t leave an oily residue and is very quick to evaporate. I would wash the surface with soap and hot water afterwards and you should be set to go.

Regards,
Steve
