Good or bad names?

cornnewb2005

Corn addict
Yet another meaningless post by cornnewb. my girlfriend and i are thinking up names for our new corn hatchlings and had a few ideas but also need some input maybe some ideas to make the names more meaningful. so here goes.
1.0 snow "Stryker", 2.0 okeetee Beowulf (an old poem to which there is no author) & Kronos (father of the olympians greek mythology for those who do not know), 0.1 albino "Saba" (greek for the woman of Sheba", 0.1 jungle "Selva" (spanish for jungle), 1.0 ghost "Casper" (obvious), 0.1 candy cane "Coyle", 0.1 charcoal het 4 blizzard "Jasmine" (Aladdin's old lady), 0.0.1 sunglow het 4 bloodred "Puck" (mischevious sprite from A midsummer nights dream Shakespeare), 1.0 ball python "Shrek" (obvious)
we are kinda debating on names for the jungle, albino and sunglow any suggestions?

Helios for the sunglow, Nome or Iditarod (Alaskan sled dog race) for the snow and Tarzan for the jungle.

Just ideas....

I don't know if there are any bad corn snake names. You can name a dog Mephistopheles, but you're probably better off naming (or nick-naming) it something short enough to incorporate meaningfully into commands. Since snakes are largely deaf, there is really nothing limiting their naming.

With a couple of exceptions, my snakes have stupid names that roughly correspond to morph (e.g. hypo-diffused female = hydi; hypo-lavender male = hal; etc.).

Some are named for other physical features. My female AneryA is named Poison because one of her blotches resembles (to me) a skull and crossbones:

Names!

I just thought on your thread and it occured to me that after much soulsearching I called my hatchling amels Scylla and Medusa.Could this be construed as a "bad name/s?I just thought that the "cute " sort of names would be reserved for kittens and puppies!!!Both are doing really well.Definately a difference between siblings!Cheers! :crazy02:

I like your snake names. Naming animals is a personal choice. There are no right or wrong names. I had a friend once with a dog named Barbara. It all depends on the taste and personality of the owner.

Whatever you want to name your snakes is ok. Mine all have names that had to do with colors. My Cal king is named Onyx, for the black on him. My snow corn is named Snow, because of the whiteness on her. My albino is named Sunset because her colors reminded me of a sunset.

well we just weren't sure but thank you for the input ill try to get a digital cam before the austin show and maybe get some pics posted of my new "babies" so then maybe we can get them some better names

no viktoria they cant be sconstrued as "bad" names the medusa was said to be beautiful with the exception of the snakes for hair

Names!

Cheers for info on Medusa, although Scylla was a dog headed sea siren from mythology!Hardrly nice! But again she was said to be beautiful until someone else got mad at her for nicking thier bloke!
I have my eye on a normal corn, the chap I got Medusa and Scylla from had rescued a normal?corn that someone hadn't provided a ceramic heat guard for.Needless to say he had a very bad burn that had healed well, but looked a bit unsightly..I had an instant name for him..Icarus.I am at the moment trying to persuade my partner to go and collect him.Wish me luck!Cheers! :crazy02:

My cornsnake quite possibley has the best name for anything ever, "Gordon".

Ohh...Gordon I like...I honestly hung out with mine for a week or 2 and waited for the corniest (no pun intended) name to come to me. I called them everything I could think of until it stuck. Hence Chester (I got that one flaked out infront of Much Music on a Sunday afternoon), and Harriet (So I Married an Axe Murderer).
I did realize that names I had in my head before I got the snakes didn't necessarily fit. I had to wait until we met. :)

I like Gordon too :) sometimes simple names work! Whether names are good or bad are competely up to you. Chances are, you will be the only one calling them by that. I lived with my ex for almost 5 years, and he still never remebered their names. I try to think of creative names (Slingshot, Bacchus, Pyretta, Pain, Ra, Anubis, Helios, Sunkist, Winter, Dojah, Nivia) but I also have a few easy ones (Red, Stipe, Bubs, Mayo, Heinz, Parkay).

I've got a Medusa, too. Cali king. There's also Durango, a corn who is very orang/caramel coloured and reminded me of the mountains near Durango, CO.
