Yesterday we got our new baby! He's (or she, not sure witch lol) a baby about 12 inches long. I dont know how to put pics directly on here and its a big picture, so here's the link to it.

Stretch

Im sure I will be having TONS of questions, since Im a new owner. Give me a few hours and I will be back with some, Im sure lol.

I'm not so good at it but I'm guessing male from the length of the tail....I could be wrong, I'm not so good at sexing hatchlings by their tails so don't quote me here!! Nice little snow BTW.

Awwww, what a cutie. I'm sure you'll be thrilled with him/her. If you have any questions feel free to ask away, thats what we're all here for (as you know). Congrats on your first little one, may many more (just as cute) come your way!

Congrats Desi, lovely snake you have there. Don't be afraid to answer questions here, we got our first corn at Xmas and the first few weeks were harrowing! Without the support of people on here I think I would be in the funny farm by now lol

Good luck and enjoy :)

Congratulations. Couldn't help but notice, what are those "specks" all over the snake? I'm hoping it's just dirt or substrate.

Oh yeah, I hadn't noticed that...hopefully they are not mites. :eek1:

...the speck by the tail looks like substrate though, so hopefully that is a good sign.

Yes, it's the dirt from his viv. The place I got him from was using a special reptile dirt in their cages and said it's best to use since the other substrates are more likely to come with mites. He really seems to love it, he buries himself right under it making himself completly hidden and stays that way most of the day.

Also, they said they fed him 2 pinkies on Thurs... when would be good to feed him again? It said in the Corn Snake Manual, that babies can eat twice a week.. but how do I know what this lil guy prefers?

Glad to hear, looked like dirt but just wanted to be sure you were aware of it.
I would wait for at least 5 days to feed again. I feed mine once a week

All my babies are currently on the "every 5 days" feeding schedule. They are all out cruising by day 5 and and are ready to go!
