Grammostola pulchripes update

Someone wanted to see new pics of my T. My first one died, actually. It got Diskinetic syndrome, which is basically a catch all phenomenon of something-is-wrong-with-your-T, and they can apparently molt out of it. In fact, I think mine came close, but made a molt mat when I was out of town, and I think it actually got too dry in its little vial while I was out of town for a week and I think it died in molt because it was too dry. Either that or it died in molt because it just succumbed then. So it was probably my fault one way or another. But, I got two more to try again and those have each been fine, no issues. I have used distilled water with these because our tap water tastes so awful that the guy I bought them from (who used to live here) suggested not using the tap water. I don't know if that was the issue with the first, but these are eating and growing and molting. So soon I will be re-homing a tarantula. I got two so that I'd have better chances of keeping one alive. Now I have two healthy tarantulas and I only need one! Here's the progression so far for one of them.

After the first molt with me. So this was a good bit bigger than when I got it.

After the second molt with me (and some feeds, to be sure). This one is bigger than the other, and it really likes to eat.

Very cool !!!

I must admit that I quite ignorant of anything pertaining to tarantulas although I do find them interesting. I never imagined them being that small as babies. How old are they?

Please do keep the updates coming!

Awesome progression! It's so rewarding to raise them from such tiny slings! Hope this one keeps getting larger and larger for you! What kind of set up do you have it in?

Some species are really, really tiny, like 1/8" at first instar. Others are quite a bit bigger. I think these hatch out at around 1/2".

Right now they're in 3x3x5 plastic boxes on coco fibre, but I'm going to pick up some 5x5x3" boxes this weekend when I'm near the container store at my mother-in-law's house. They're dry with a bottle cap water dish (which they've filled with substrate).
